Who this service is for

Air Force and Navy families on orders to the UK, embassy and contractor staff, and civilian families emigrating with a dog or cat.

The transport process

Breed and microchip check, cargo booking on an approved route, health certificate prepared for your vet and endorsed by USDA, tapeworm treatment scheduled inside the legal window, ground transport to the gateway airport, then clearance at the Animal Reception Centre and delivery to your UK address.

What we need to quote you

Your U.S. city and state, the UK destination, travel date, and each pet's species, breed, age and weight, plus crate measurements if you have them.

Planning information

Dogs need the tapeworm treatment recorded 24 to 120 hours before arrival — miss it and the pet is held and re-treated at your cost. Cats do not need it. Rabies must be at least 21 days old on the travel date, and the health certificate is short-dated, so the whole sequence has to be booked backwards from the flight.

Frequently asked questions

What documents may be needed for the UK?+

An ISO microchip fitted before the rabies vaccination, a current rabies shot at least 21 days old, a USDA-endorsed Great Britain health certificate, and for dogs a tapeworm treatment given 24 to 120 hours before arrival by a vet who records it.

Does my pet have to arrive as cargo?+

Yes. Great Britain requires pets from the United States to arrive as manifested cargo through an approved route, and dogs and cats are checked at an Animal Reception Centre such as the one at Heathrow.

Are any breeds banned?+

Yes. The UK prohibits Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, Fila Brasileiro and XL Bully types. We check breed eligibility before quoting rather than after you have paid.

How far in advance should I request a quote?+

Sixty to ninety days, and sooner in summer. The tapeworm window is tight and has to be booked against the actual flight time.

Can I get a quote before booking?+

Yes — the 30-second quote form starts it, and a coordinator sends a written cargo quote with the Animal Reception Centre fees shown.
