Frequently asked questions

Which airlines do you book for live-animal cargo?+

American Airlines PetEmbark, Alaska Airlines Pet Connect, United PetSafe (when open), Delta Cargo, Lufthansa, KLM, British Airways, Aer Lingus, and Iberia Cargo — plus regional partners for connections. We choose the routing that keeps your pet on the fewest planes with the shortest ground time.

How far in advance should I book air cargo for a pet?+

For domestic PCS moves, 2–3 weeks is comfortable. International moves need 4–8 weeks because of rabies titers, import permits, and USDA APHIS endorsement windows. Emergency bookings inside 10 days are treated as rush service.

What crate do I need for cargo?+

IATA CR-82 compliant — we ship Petmate Sky Kennel and Pet Express PP-series exclusively because every airline accepts them without a fight. Our live cargo quote calculator sizes the crate to your pet's weight and length automatically.

What paperwork travels with the pet?+

USDA APHIS-endorsed health certificate, rabies certificate, microchip record, airline live-animal checklist, and — for international — an import permit plus destination-country vet form. Our full-service paperwork add-on ($500) handles the entire packet.

What are heat and cold embargoes?+

Airlines refuse live animals when forecast temperatures exceed 85°F or drop below 20°F at any airport in the routing. We monitor forecasts daily and rebook proactively — you never lose a deposit to weather.
